Lunar eclipse, three monuments, Arizona
Have you ever seen the Earth shadow from the side of an airliner at dusk, as you head either toward or away from the setting sun? A giant blue wedge in the sky, the portion of the atmosphere in shadow from the lim of Earth. Here is the same but facing away from the sun so that it's a band of uniform height across the horizon.
Add to this Earth's shadow on the moon, a partial lunar eclipse, itself another usual event, and anti-crepuscular rays from the setting sun, converging on the point on the center of Earth's shadow, at the lower left side of the moon and you have an especially rare combination of three unusual atmospheric events together with one of the greatest and most famous views in the world.
