Corn lily and lupine, Minarets Wilderness, California
On the last day of a very cold and rainy, but for me a very productive burro trip, our party was making the several mile descent to a trailhead, known to some as Agony Meadows. The sun had just risen over the high ridge which we were descending and moved fortuitously behind a small, thin cloud, reducing its intensity by more than three fourths. I madly raced to set up and was able to make one ideal exposure of the backlit corn lily, or false hellebore, before the cloud moved on.
