Yucca, sunrise, Escalante, Utah
My nickname for this picture is "missing breakfast, the first day of the trip". When you're backpacking, that tends to matter a lot. It was a highly memorable and productive 12-day outing into some of the most beautiful territory I've ever seen. The one 50-sheet box of film afforded just one exposure for each of the 36 images I made on the trip, and the result was all twelve of the images for my first trade calendar, The Last Wildlands 1978, co-published by Friends of the Earth and Simon & Schuster.
