Bluff lettuce, Point Lobos, California
Do you remember, in Edward Weston's pictures of Point Lobos, all those bright little succulents that adorned the ground around some of his cypress trees? His son Brett made a fine close-up of them which exploits very well the wonderful glow which seems to come from within these marvelous little plants. "Bluff lettuce" indeed. They are only about four inches across, so owing to the fact that view cameras becoming rather fiendishly complex to use as one gets very close to a demanding subject, I had quite a backache by the time this one was finished. Ninety minutes to complete a few 90-second exposures, at f/90, in the soft indirect glow of late afternoon light.
