Dogwoods in their spring bloom are one of the traditional things which drive American landscape photographers mad with desire. In the right setting, they can be quite a sight to behold. Seriously, I had hoped to someday manage one or more dogwood pictures of real power in or around Yosemite Valley, which affords a number of exceptional settings for them. Finally, on one trip in 2010, I managed three. The other two are on the site as well: River dogwoods, Yosemite, California and Dogwood, Cathedral Rocks, Yosemite. This one is made from a net of 68 million pixels of medium-format capture assembled from six overlapping captures of 39 million pixels each. You can get a sense of the exquisite detail here in the adjacent Zoom tab. I'm finding it difficult to come up with just the right sort of hint to suggest how much I love this photograph.
